On the initiative of the Mayor of the City of Conversano, adv. Joseph Lovascio was held, in fact, in the Town Hall, The first meeting of the Working Committee composed of the mayors of the municipalities in the district social health No 1, ie Conversano, Polignano and Monopoli, meeting aimed to review of the prospects for the implementation of integrated community services and social welfare in light of the Regional Health Plan.
At the first meeting were present, as well as the Mayor of Conversano, the Mayor of Monopoli, Emilio Roman, and the delegate of the Mayor of Polignano a Mare, the Councillor for Social Policies, Paul Montalbano.
The importance of the institution of the Board of Auditors consists entirely in the special task entrusted to this body by law and described in art. Regulation 18 of the said region: the Committee, in fact, is the political-institutional health system planning and acting in an advisory and proposal on the activities of the Regional Plan (PAT) as proposed by the Director of the district and approved by the Director-General, in consultation, limited to social and health activities, with the committee and that taking into account the priorities established at the regional level. It contributes also to the Achievement of the health outcomes defined in the PAT.
The involvement of municipalities in the formation of PAT is an indication of the role and defining which are the Local Authorities under the Regional Health System, a role that not limited to the programming undertaking but as far as the integrated management of health services and social health.
Among the essential services that the District and must ensure that the Board of Auditors should plan and ensure the District include: the ADI (Integrated Home Care), ADP (Home Care Program for practitioners), the clinics, the admissions at the so-called shelters or nursing homes.
With respect to these essential services, the mayors of three municipalities have joined the call for immediate activation of the ADI, designed as an alternative to hospital or shelter facilities, highlighting the important benefits in human, organizational and economic that the municipal entity would be the adoption of this service.
The District Director, Dr. Angela Manghisi, present at the first settlement, in expressing the full support of the programmatic intent of the three municipalities in the district, reported the specific issues that hinder even today the activation of social and health services essential, although these have been duly prepared in the Area Plan.
The Committee, therefore, identified the need for primary-level social services and took note of the difficulties, decided to schedule, by mid-November, a second meeting which require the participation of the Medical Director of ASL BA, Lea Cosentino, in order to determine the ways and means to eliminate or at least reduce the barriers that exist for the activation of these essential services.
